Bands vs. Disc Jockeys

A competent DJ service can play virtually any song, and any type of song, you and your guests want to hear. Most bands can only play the songs they know, and sometimes only certain types of songs/genres. A professional DJ plays all the original songs by the original artists; bands will usually try their best to imitate, but sometimes the song will sound nothing like the original. Professional DJ's play music continuously from the beginning of your event through the end; bands take breaks, usually 15 or 20 minutes out of every hour. A competent DJ can also act as emcee or host of your event, making announcements and coordinating all activities; bands generally will only play music. Finally, bands generally cost double or triple as much as the cost of a competent DJ.
